Associate Professor in Phytotechnics with Aggregation in the area of plant protection at the University of the Azores, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Department of Agricultural Sciences , PHD  in Agricultural Sciences, specialty Plant Protection, Master degree in Integrated Pest Management, Coordinator of the Plant Protection area of the Department of Agrarian Sciences involving the Plant Protection and Integrated Protection curricular units. Coordinator of the working group that prepared the Regional Strategy for the development of Organic Agriculture and Plan and action for the promotion and promotion of organic products in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. Coordinator of the working group that prepared the Plan for the development of fruit growing in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. Coordinator of the working group that prepared the Plan for the development of horticulture production in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Coordinator and principal investigator of 4 scientific research and technological development projects that have the University of Azores as partner or leadership.

Focus on research developed in Protection and integrated production and integrated pest management in fruit, horticulture and organic farming.

Development of 30 projects and 6 knowledge transfer activities for public or private entities, prepared 2 regional development plans in two strategic areas of fruit and organic farming. Published 7 articles in magazines and 13 in books of international proceedings. In national magazines published 15 articles and 70 in other national publications and some technical books.
